BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- LSU football head coach Brian Kelly addressed a lawsuit recently filed by a former Tigers football player during questioning in a news conference ahead of the Arkansas game. Greg Brooks Jr., who underwent surgery for a large brain tumor in 2023, is accusing coaches and doctors of failing to properly diagnose him after he started experiencing neurological symptoms. Brooks alleges that he was left with “severe and permanent injuries” that have caused strokes after LSU-affiliated Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center negligently granted privileges to doctor Brandon Gaynor to perform brain surgery. The lawsuit filed in August names Kelly, former defensive coordinator Matt House, former safeties coach Kerry Cooks, trainers and medical staff. "I think it's well known and we've talked about the love that we have, our entire team, for Greg Brooks, you know, a leader beloved by his teammates, and we'll continue to have that. But, unfortunately, you know, lawsuits come out in our culture and our society every day and it is what it is but it doesn't change the way we feel about Greg. Our support is going to be there. We hope and pray for only the best for him," said Kelly on Oct. 14.
