Andrew Dieb-Imagn Images A member of Aidan Hutchinson’s family offered up a very optimistic update on the Lions Pro Bowl defender. The injury to Detroit Lions All-Pro edge defender Aidan Hutchinson was a massive blow to the team on Sunday, but an update from an unnamed family member offers some hope for his future... and maybe even the season. Michael Stone (AKA Stoney) of 97.1 The Ticket offered this update on Hutchinson via Twitter late Sunday night. A close member of @aidanhutch97 told me the following. Even though it looked bad, it’s less of an injury than he suffered in college. Pretty soon he will be bionic. when we make it to the Super Bowl, he will be ready to go. The Detroit News reported a similar update. On the Detroit Football Network podcast, Stone clarified that his source was a direct member of the Hutchinson family. As for the previous injury they’re speaking of, it’s referencing the fractured ankle Hutchinson suffered that left him sidelined in 2020. The following season, Hutchinson produced 14.0 sacks for the Wolverines. According to the Lions, Hutchinson suffered both a fractured tibia and fibula against the Dallas Cowboys in the third quarter of the game. He was placed in an air cast and immediately transported to a local hospital, where he underwent successful surgery and is expected to make “full recovery.” pic.twitter.com/xjAPjyD05b— Detroit Lions (@Lions) October 14, 2024 For him to recover in time to play in a theoretical Lions Super Bowl would be an incredible recovery. There’s reason to cast a little doubt on that optimistic projection given that it’s coming for a family source. That said, the Hutchinsons do come from a family of doctors (his father, Chris, is a physician). The bigger picture here is that Hutchinson got some good news Sunday night, and—at the very least—he should be ready to go well before the start of the 2025 season.
