A pedestrian is dead after a fatal Monday morning crash on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins that shut down the interstate for hours, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to reports of a crash on northbound I-25 at Prospect Road around 4:15 a.m. Monday, according to Sgt. Patrick Rice.
Rice said a Chevrolet Silverado struck and killed a pedestrian on the interstate and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The driver had minor injuries.
The interstate was shut down between Colorado 68 and Exit 268 for Prospect Road near Fort Collins around 4:30 a.m. Monday, according to CDOT officials.
As of 9 a.m., CDOT officials said northbound I-25 was still closed and no estimated time of reopening was available.
Northbound drivers were experiencing up to 25-minute delays around 9 a.m. Monday, according to CDOT officials.
