Cherokee Students are National Merit Semifinalists Two Cherokee High School students have been named as semifinalists in the 2025 National Merif Scholarship Program. Seniors Nicholas Korobellis and Steven Willi join more than 16,000 high school seniors who will go on to compete for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships offered next spring. Over 1.3 million juniors from approximately 21,000 high schools participated in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Nicholas Korobellis and Steven Willi.(Courtesy of Cherokee High School) To become a finalist, the semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, in which they provide information about the semifinalist’s academic record, involvement in school and community activities, employment history, and any honors or awards received. National Merit Scholarship winners of 2025 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July. Lenape Students Recognized as National Merit Commended Students Seventeen students from Lenape High School have been recognized as “National Merit Commended Students” in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has been presented to these scholastically talented students. Congratulations to Rabib Alam, Kavin Deivaprakash, John Esaia, David Filip, Adam Freedman, Ella Hashimoto, Justin Hermack, Derek Hou, Noah Hyun, Vishvajith Jagadeesan, Michael Kahn, Amanullah Mohammed, Sabrina Parikh, Abhinav Reddy, Shreeya Soma, Ryan Snider, and Aditya Sriram. These students are being recognized for their exceptional academic progress. Each student has placed among the top 50,000 scorers who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) last October.
