Last week the Colome Cowgirls went on the road to take on the Stanley County Lady Buffaloes in a mid-season match, and while they weren’t able to come away with the win, libero Westlie Cahoy made all of Colome proud by reaching a historic mark in the programs history. Mid-way through the match, play was stopped and the celebration started when Cahoy reached the 1,000th dig of her career. Officials halted the match so Cahoy could enjoy the moment with her teammates and fans who congratulated her with a standing ovation and a banner to mark the feat. Head Coach of the Cowgirls Taylor Hrabanek said, “Westlie has worked extremely hard to reach the goal of 1,000 digs. It is a huge accomplishment for any high school athlete and we are proud and happy that we could be a part of Westlie accomplishing this goal.” Cahoy kept the ball as a memento and is pictured below with it, her banner and her team.
