'Significant flooding' discovered at Charles England Elementary School in Lexington

LEXINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — Flooding at a school in Lexington has forced officials to close the school for Tuesday.
On Monday, Lexington City Schools announced that there was "significant flooding" at Charles England Elementary School. The district said the school would be closed Tuesday "to ensure the safety of our students and staff."

Earlier today, Lexington City Schools identified significant flooding at Charles England Elementary School (CEES). As a result, the school will be closed on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
We are actively working with professionals to assess the full extent of the situation and determine the necessary steps for recovery. Parents, guardians, and students will be informed of any updates regarding the school’s reopening and any changes to the regular school schedule or activities.
Our primary concern is the safety of our school community, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we address this situation. Charles England will be closed to students tomorrow, Tuesday, October 15. Thank you.
