SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies are investigating after a body was found lying near a home on Byas Road, said deputies. Deputies said they received a 911 call around 9:49 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, that an unconscious body was lying near a home on Byas Road. When deputies arrived to the scene, they were able to locate the body and were soon joined by EMS. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that the victim had been shot. Also, a vehicle found parked on the road belonged to the victim. Sheriff Anthony Dennis confirmed that a shooting had taken place and that it may relate to a shooting incident reported on Duffie Drive at around 2 a.m. “Our investigators are gathering evidence and interviewing eyewitnesses, and we are only in the early stages of our investigation,” he said.
