(PUEBLO, Colo.) — After an employee was accused of stealing money from people at the Pueblo Rescue Mission a benefit was held on Saturday, Oct. 12 to raise money for the victims. On Sept. 25 Pueblo Rescue Mission reported a senior employee had committed alleged financial misconduct, taking money directly from several people staying at PRM. The Pueblo Police Department is still investigating and so far no arrests have been made. In early October the Pueblo Rescue Mission signed over its buildings to the city and committed to the dissolution of the nonprofit by Dec. 31. The city is working to find a new executive director or agency to take over the Mission's role. On Saturday, at the Pueblo Rescue Mission's Porch Light location, a benefit to raise money for the victims included a silent auction, music, food, and community connection. "A person in [a position of] trust, you know, really took advantage of these residents and put them in a difficult spot. Safeside Foundation wanted to come up with a day that we could honor these residents, you know, show them compassion and love. You know exactly what they deserve and just have a time of recovery and fellowship," said Ryan Morgan, Manager of Recovery Services at Safeside Recovery.
