AM Headlines: Cold Front Brings Chilly Changes Wind Advisory First Frost Midweek? Weekend Warm Up Discussion: A strong cold front is moving through the region this morning. A wind advisory is in effect for the mountains through 6pm. Although slightly under criteria with gusts up to 45 mph and sustained winds 15-25 mph, the trees are weakened from Helene so any strong gusts could bring down, branches and trees and/or cause power outages across our mountains communities. Breezy for the rest of the area with winds NW 10-15 and gusts up to 25 mph possible. Temps will begin to slide today with highs much cooler in the mountains topping out near 60s while the rest of the region will see temps climb into the low 70s. Overnight lows will tumble into the 30s and 40s across the region tonight. Highs will be 10 degrees below average Tuesday – reaching the mid 60s. A surge of chillier air arrives Tuesday into Wednesday bringing more chilly temps to the region with lows falling into the 20s and 30s across the mountains and likely leading to more frost and the first freeze for spots below 3500′. Temps remain below average through the end of the week. Highs will bounce back into the 70s by this weekend.
