BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, with one in eight being diagnosed at some point in their lives. In North Dakota, over 500 will develop breast cancer this year. Everyone knows someone who has struggled with cancer, and this makes events to help raise funds for its treatment — like Bismarck's Bucks for Bras — incredibly important. Bucks for Bras is put on by the Bismarck Cancer Center and was designed as a way to celebrate the lives of women who have battled breast cancer, while still helping to raise money to fight for a cure. Since its inception in 2011, the event has raised over $550,000 for patients in the region. Bismarck/Wilton area wildfires contained This year's fundraiser will feature a silent auction, complimentary food, and the opportunity to purchase fundraiser merchandise before ending with a live bra auction — where models will display unique lingerie designed by artists. The 2024 Bucks for Bras event will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at the Bismarck Cancer Center or online.
