DICKINSON, ND (KXNET) — Two high-speed pursuits took place in Dickinson over the weekend that resulted in one driver being hospitalized and a warrant for the other. The first pursuit happened on Friday, October 11 around 10:30 p.m. when a Dickinson police officer saw a stolen vehicle in a residential area. According to officers, the vehicle was reported stolen in Gladstone the day before. The officer made a traffic stop, and the driver fled at a high speed onto East I-94 Business Loop and out of city limits on Highway 10. The officer got out of his vehicle and deployed spike strips, and when the driver, a 32-year-old Dickinson man, approached going 80-90 mph, he swerved around the patrol car and hit a highway approach, nearly hitting the officer. The vehicle went into the air, landed, and flipped several times. The driver sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to Fargo for treatment. The 32-year-old will allegedly be facing multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension. He has also fled from law enforcement multiple times and has several active warrants for his arrest.
