CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Nature lovers can hike under the glow of October's full moon at Pocahontas State Park on Saturday while learning about its name and listening for nocturnal animals. According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Hunter's Moon is a supermoon, meaning the moon will be within its closest spot in its orbit at the same time it is full. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, a ranger will lead visitors along a hike in the moonlight while discussing why October's full moon is referred to as the Hunter Moon. The hike is suitable for ages 8 and up, according to organizers, and registration is required. The group will first meet at the park's Main Office before heading on the hike.
