According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to an event center near SW 59th St. and S Agnew Ave. around 12:30 a.m. regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, investigators learned the shooting began as an argument between two groups. One person died and 14 others were injured in the shooting. "It doesn't appear to be a random shooting, it looks like it was an argument that broke out between two different groups of people here at this party." said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Two arrests after One killed, 14 injured in SW OKC shooting Mayor David Holt says he believes we can prevent shootings like this one by investing in the city's young people. "Recent shootings in our city fit a familiar pattern-- young men (boys, really) making terrible decisions with grave consequences.... Boys whose brains are literally still forming don't always respond rationally to the things that would deter you and I." said Mayor Holt. "The most important thing we can do at the local level to prevent these tragic events is to keep investing in our young people... Data shows us young people who stay in school and engaged in extracurricular activities are far less likely to find themselves shooting at each other at midnight." Officials say two people have been arrested in connection to the shooting. The investigation is still ongoing.
