INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department conducted a death investigation after they found a dead person in downtown Indianapolis late Sunday night. According to IMPD, around 11:10 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block of South Illinois Street to check on a person that was down. Officers found an adult male on the sidewalk with injuries consistent with trauma, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are canvassing the area to find video and are asking for witnesses to contact them to find out what caused the trauma. IMPD believes that the incident is not related to the nearby mall as most of the businesses on the block were closed at the time. The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death. Anyone with information is asked to call IMPD at 317-327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.
