MĀʻALAEA, Hawaii (KHON2) -- Voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa has made its way to Maui, arriving at Māʻalaea Harbor on Sunday after spending a week on Lānaʻi. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You Crews from the Polynesian Voyaging Society's Pae ʻĀina Statewide Sail have been sharing the history and mission of Hōkūleʻa to residents and visitors of Lānaʻi. Once docked, visitors can enjoy canoe tours, stargazing activities and crew presentations. While on Lānaʻi, the crew hosted a tour for those participating in the Lānaʻi Keiki Fishing Competition. Who are the crews of the Molokai Hoe During its visit to the Valley Isle, Maui residents and visitors can enjoy dockside canoe tours during the following dates: Oct. 14 to Oct. 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 to Oct. 23 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to scheduled school visits, the crew will also host a presentation at the Maui Ocean Center on Oct. 18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The visit is part of the Pae ʻĀina sail around the Hawaiian Islands to share "cultural and educational experiences and exchanges focused on mālama honua (caring for our island Earth)."
