SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A United States Navy parachutist landed on a mother and her daughter Sunday afternoon during a Fleet Week airshow, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The mother and her juvenile daughter were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The incident happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. on the Marina Green, per SFFD. The circumstances of what led the Navy parachutist to land on the mother and daughter are unknown at this time. Video from SFFD (above) shows the parachutist mistakenly landing in the crowd of Marina Green bystanders. A Fleet Week observer in the video is heard saying, "no, no, no, he's going to crash, (expletive) he just crashed." Fleet Week concludes Sunday, here’s what you need to know Another video sent to KRON4 -- this time by a viewer -- shows an up-close look at the parachutist landing at what seems to be the outside of the designated landing zone where bystanders are. Around the 1:45 mark of the video (below), screams were heard as the parachutist approached the crowd. After the parachutist landed, one bystander was heard asking the victim, "are you okay?" The U.S. Navy released a statement regarding the incident. “Our thoughts are with the individual and their family. Safety is our number one priority. We cannot immediately assess what happened; however, we will review this incident to determine the cause," the Navy said in a statement. KRON4 is sending a crew to the scene. This is a developing story. Check back as we learn more. Editor's note: SFFD initially told KRON4 the incident happened at Crissy Field. The fire department later reported that it happened at Marina Green, and the story has been updated to reflect that.
