A worker at a U.S. Postal Service Office in St. Paul was shot and injured Sunday and police said they arrested a coworker of the victim. Police were called shortly before 3:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot in the building on West Seventh Street, just west of Interstate 35E, which is closed to the public on Sundays. Officers found a man with multiple gunshot injuries, and St. Paul Fire Department medics took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster, a St. Paul Police spokesman. Police found the suspect about 4:50 p.m. and arrested him during a traffic stop in the area of West Seventh and Madison streets, just over a mile from the post office. Preliminary information shows the victim and suspect know each other as coworkers, Ernster said. Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
