WILLISTON, N.D. (KXNET) — Being a police officer is a tough job. That's why the Williston Police Department is offering youth interested in joining the force a new hands-on opportunity -- a ride-along. A ride-along is where you'll get a chance to learn about what it takes to be a police officer. There, you'll accompany a patrol officer and experience their duties firsthand. You'll get a chance to see the diverse situations officers are sometimes confronted with. You'll also get a chance to ask the patrol officer questions to see if joining the force is the right decision for you. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. If you believe you have what it takes after the ride-along, the Williston Police Department encourages you to apply. Entry-level applications open November 1.
