Charges have been dropped against a Chicago police officer who was alleged to have slashed a vehicle’s tires last summer, though a case against a CPD deputy chief remains ongoing, according to court documents.Prosecutors decided to drop the case against Officer Jacob Gies, 26, on Sept. 26, according to Cook County court records. Gies filed a petition to expunge his record on Sept. 30.The Cook County state’s attorney’s office didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.The case against Deputy Chief Roberto Nieves, 53, is still ongoing, and the next court date was set for Oct. 28, according to court records. He was allegedly captured on video cutting the vehicle’s tires while wearing his police uniform, law enforcement sources said. State St. on Sept. 5, according to an internal police alert. At the time, both had been relieved of their police powers, and Nieves was demoted to captain, police said.Nieves previously served as commander of both the Rogers Park District and the Gang Investigations Division.
