Governor Ron DeSantis and state officials met in Treasure Island on Sunday to provide updates on Hurricane Milton response and recovery efforts. Florida Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Kevin Guthrie and Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue also addressed the community on debris cleanup. This comes after President Joe Biden approved 100% reimbursement for debris removal for 90 days. He said debris removal typically takes a year to clear up, but he said locals need to focus their cleanup efforts in the next three months. We got 90 days to remove the debris. We don't want that here. We want to get the job done.Guthrie reminds the community to avoid pooled water on the streets because it may contain bacteria so he said don't walk through it.Perdue said he is very proud of the community coming together and state officials for their efforts. Americans are helping fellow Americans. We are grateful to see that and share that comradery. As of 3 p.m., DeSantis said approximately 891,623 Floridians are without power. The State of Florida has restored 3,179,560 accounts.He said the FDEM has public fuel depot locations to support residents in Milton-impacted counties.
