SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - As part of Enshrinement weekend, four basketball super fans, who you may recognize, were honored on the Naismith Basketball Court of dreams Sunday afternoon. 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame’s Enshrinement Ceremony Hollywood Director Spike Lee, actors Billy Crystal and Jack Nicholson, and American businessman Alan Horwitz were part of the group of basketball enthusiasts who were being recognized for their impact on the game. They were honored for their loyalty, passion, and dedication to the sport. Each honoree had the opportunity to speak about what basketball means to them and how they have contributed to their favorite team's fan base over the decades. "Even when your team's not doing well, you get a chance to watch the greatest athletes in the world compete against each other," said Crystal. "For us, you know, up close it's been a real thrill to see how great they really are and how hard it is to play a game at that level." These four superfans will now be officially added to the James F. Goldstein SuperFan Gallery. Crystal for the Clippers, Lee for the Knicks, Horwitz for the 76ers and Nicholson for the Lakers.
