KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Clinton, Missouri man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in rural Henry County. The crash was reported around 11:15 p.m. Friday on Highway 13, just south of NW 950th Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Whooping cough cases surge to record levels in US, CDC says MSHP reports the driver of a 2008 Ford Taurus was traveling northbound when he ran off the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned, struck a fence and an utility pole. The driver, identified as 39-year-old Michael F. Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the crash report from MSHP, it is unknown if Smith was wearing a seatbelt.
