INDIANAPOLIS — One person was displaced by a fire on the near north side of Indianapolis Saturday night. According to a Facebook post from the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 1600 block on Mondrian Place around 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames emanating from the third floor of the building. Photos courtesy of the Indianapolis Fire Department. Before crews made it to the scene, 911 dispatchers received multiple calls from residents of the apartment building. The callers reported that they heard the sound of an "explosion." During its attack on the fire, IFD discovered flames in an HVAC system in an apartment. Officials confirmed the fire was mostly contained to one apartment, however, some flames did spread to the building's roofline. Crews brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of their arrival. IFD confirmed one person was displaced by the blaze, but nobody was injured. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
