PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front will be pushing through on Monday bringing cooler weather for the rest of the week. For today, the winds will start to pick up as we go through the evening and into the overnight. This is out ahead of that cold front. It looks like the front will move over the mountains during the night and our winds will pick up during the day on Monday. The timing for that front means our high temperatures will probably remain in the 60s for our western counties and near 70 in the Piedmont Triad. Monday's winds will shift from the southwest to the northwest very early in the morning and will be gusting to around 20-25 mph by Monday noon. An upper-level low could bring a sprinkle of rain Tuesday afternoon, but right now there is only a 15% to 20% chance of that. Otherwise, a cool and dry week ahead. The National Weather Service says it might end up issuing a Frost Advisory for Wednesday morning, but they will wait until we get closer to make that decision. Even if the Frost Advisory is not issued for Wednesday morning, temperatures will be cold enough to warrant taking special care for tender plants, pets and farm animals.
