EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An El Paso print shop shows its Latino heritage through its best-selling T-shirt that represents the Sun City. Deez Teez 915 storefront on 5577 Alameda Ave., Space No. 25- A. Photo taken by Jocelyn Flores/KTSM Deez Teez 915 is a custom print shop that husband and wife owners Demitri Sepulveda and Ashly Valdez built from the ground up. They offer their custom prints in T-shirts, hoodies, banners, business cards and even stickers. If the design can be printed, Deez Teez can make it come to life. KTSM.com is profiling Hispanic business and community leaders in the greater El Paso region as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The designs are created in-house and are continuously rotated throughout the seasons or to fit what’s trending in fashion. One of their best sellers is the EP Floral shirts. It’s a minimal design that pays homage to the Sun City and the Latino culture, with the gothic fonts that are used a lot in Chicano-style art. El Paso Floral shirts. Deez is my husband Dimitri, Teez is we wanted to make it clear that we sell T-shirts and 915, we wanted to make everyone know that we were local and that wasn’t going to change,” Valdez said. In 2017 when the shop had barely begun, they were a vendor at the Fox Plaza Sunday flea market and then converted to a shop inside the Fox Plaza Mercado Mall. “They (the public) started seeing the shirts that we had bought in wholesale and they were like ‘Can you adjust this? Can you put this?’ and that gave us the idea to start doing custom T-shirts,” Valdez said. Recently, Deez Teez 915 celebrated its two-month anniversary of opening its first brick-and-mortar location at Fox Plaza at 5577 Alameda Ave, Space No. 25-A, next to the DD Discount store. In addition to the designs, Deez Teez 915 prides itself on its high-quality printing products. They utilize their massive machines to provide high-quality printing, including direct-to-garment printing. “Direct-to-garment printing is a printer where you put the shirt or the garment on a platen and you send the image from the computer to the printer and it prints directly to the shirt. It has a printer head that is super small and catches every detail in the picture,” Valdez said. The process of direct-to-garment printing with Deez Teez 915. The owners have worked with previous local artists in the past and are open to working with more in the future to help bring the artist’s designs to life. “I think about myself. If I want something, if I think is pretty cool, I want to offer it to other people as well. I saw there was a market for it. A lot of people were asking if they could customize the shirts that were already made and that’s when I knew there was a market for custom printing,” Valdez said. In addition to the local artist section, Deez Teez 915 has a dedicated section to their “El Paso line” with various shirts and sweatshirts to show off the “Chuco” pride.
