EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The El Paso Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with the El Paso Opera to present "Great Italian Arias" this week.
The shows will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19 at the Plaza Theatre.
Brian Downen
Jamille Lea
Jonathan Hays
The El Paso Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Bohuslav Rattay, will be joined by soprano Jamille Lea, tenor Brian Downen and baritone Jonathan Hays.
The first half of the program will feature famous Italian arias, EPSO said in its news release.
“Italian opera is all about big emotions, dramatic stories, and powerful music. It often revolves around themes of love, passion, betrayal, and death. It’s probably the only musical genre where performers sing about being stabbed, and the audience thinks, 'Wow, that was beautiful,'" Rattay said.
The second half will feature the El Paso Symphony Orchestra in Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier Suite."
Individual prices are $49, $44, $37, $23, and $17 plus fees. Student tickets for $9 and $12, plus fees, are available. Tickets may be purchased at epso.org, ticketmaster.com, or by calling the EPSO office (915) 532-3776
