AUSTIN (KXAN) — A small shuffle in the top of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings allowed the Texas Longhorns to strengthen its hold on the top spot. In the latest rankings released Sunday, the Longhorns earned 56 out of 62 first-place votes for 1,544 points while the Oregon Ducks jumped to No. 2 following their thrilling 32-31 victory over Ohio State. The Ducks earned 1,493 points and were followed by Penn State at No. 3, Ohio State falling two spots to No. 4 with Georgia rounding out the top five. No. 1 Texas stays perfect with 34-3 Red River Rivalry win over No. 18 Oklahoma When Texas and Georgia meet at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Austin, it will be a battle of top-five teams from the Southeastern Conference, which many expected before the season. ESPN's College Gameday will be in Austin to broadcast its show previewing the entire day of college football. Miami, Alabama, Louisiana State, Iowa State and Clemson complete the top 10. LSU moved up five spots with its 29-26 overtime win over Mississippi. The Rebels fell nine slots to No. 18 with the loss. The Aggies head to Starkville, Mississippi, to face Mississippi State on Saturday. Army and Navy entered the rankings for the first time this season. The Black Knights are No. 23 and have the nation's longest active winning streak at 10 games after beating Alabama-Birmingham 44-10. The Midshipmen topped Air Force 34-7 to move to 5-0 and No. 25 in the rankings. The annual Army-Navy game is Dec. 14, but if they keep winning in American Athletic Conference play, they could meet for the AAC championship the week before. It's Army's first year as a football-playing member of the conference.
