Former President Trump on Sunday touted his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump joined Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” on Sunday, where he discussed America’s threats internationally but tried to dispel concern about the country’s adversaries. “I happen to get along with Kim Jong Un very well,” Trump said. The former president said the relationship with Kim started “really nasty” when the two threatened nuclear violence with a “red button on my desk.” “He called me things and then he said, I have a red button on my desk. And I said, I have a red button also, but it’s bigger, and my red button works,” Trump said. “And it was really nasty and a lot of people were worried actually.” Trump said when he was entering office, he spoke with former President Obama who said the biggest threat was North Korea. He argued that Obama and Kim were “close to going to war.” “We would’ve had a nuclear war with millions of people killed,” Trump said. “And when I was in there, I got along great with Kim Jong Un.” The former president reiterated that he also “got along great with Putin.” A new book by journalist Bob Woodward found Trump sent Putin COVID-19 testing devices during the height of the pandemic, highlighting their friendship. Trump has consistently touted his relationship with Putin and said he would “solve” the Russia-Ukraine war in one day if he were in office.
