SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Basketball Hall of Fame's Enshrinement Ceremony is happening on Sunday, bringing players, fans, and basketball legends right here to Springfield. Crews put out bedroom fire on Main Street in Springfield Sunday is one of the biggest basketball events of the year, and it's going to be a busy day downtown in the city of firsts. As the new Hall of Fame inductees prepare to be inducted, note there are several road closures and traffic restrictions in place. Court Street is closed all day. Boland Way will be closed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and East Columbus Avenue will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Events are running all day at the Basketball Hall of Fame, including an NBA Youth Clinic at 9 a.m., an NBA 2K tournament, coaches circle presentation, and a superfan presentation, all leading up to the Enshrinement Red Carpet Show and Ceremony at Symphony Hall. Some of the big names in the Hall of Fame class of 2024 include Vince Carter, Chauncey Billups, Simone Augustus, Walter Davis, and Michael Cooper. The annual Enshrinement Ceremony brings national attention to the birthplace of basketball, and the city of Springfield is well-equipped to make this day memorable for all. There are still tickets available for Sunday's ceremony, and 22News will continue to cover the day's events as our city of firsts rolls out the red carpet for some of the biggest names in basketball.
