The view expressed in David Young’s letter from Oct. 3 is absurd. Based on his thinking, I can ride my gasoline-powered dirt bike on Mid Mountain Trail because that’s what bike I brought to the playground. And if someone confronts me about breaking the law, they’re a two-wheeled bully. What those riding e-bikes don’t seem to understand is that their bikes are not the same as analog bikes, even if they look similar. E-bikes are not allowed on many single track trails in and around Park City, simply because they have a motor, full-stop.Most of our trails have been non-motorized for many decades and are seeing much more frequent use in the last few years without the e-bike impact. I’ve seen first hand the wear and tear current use brings, which is just a cost of use. I strongly believe allowing e-bikes on trails will do nothing but make the wear and tear drastically increase. Plus the increase in literal run-ins with others, hikers included, will be on the rise.By the way, I prefer to pedal my mountain bike, but am also an e-bike owner.Phil TisovecPark CityThe post They don’t belong appeared first on Park Record.
