BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Firefighters are currently battling multiple wildfires that have broken out north of the Bismarck area. According to Burleigh County Fire officials, the fires broke out in an area known as the Double Ditch (West of Highway 83 between Bismarck and Wilton) this evening. Officials say that the area impacted by the fires is approximately one mile long, and strong gusty winds are making the situation even more difficult. Wildfires: How to help, where to find information At least two National Guard helicopters are making water drops over the area. The current number of acres burned and communities impacted is unknown.
