BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Friday was graduation day for hundreds of students attending the United Education Institute in Bakersfield. In all, 350 graduates from the skilled trades and allied healthcare programs put on their caps and gowns while walking the stage in front of proud family members and friends. The ceremony was held at Bridge Bible Church in southwest Bakersfield. One student we spoke with says going to a traditional four-year college wasn't for him. "You've got to put your mind to it, if you want to do it just do it," said automotive graduate Froylan Solis. "Don't think about it. Don't overthink it because that's what I was doing, going 'what should I do with my life?' because I used to work in the fields. That's why I was going to school, I had an interest in cars and that's what got me into the program." UEI College says its programs allow students to complete their training and enter the workforce in as little as 10 months.
