DALLAS (KXAN) — It was a slow start for the No. 1 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, but once they got rolling, the Oklahoma Sooners couldn't stop them. Texas reclaimed The Golden Hat with a 34-3 win in the Red River Rivalry over its bitter rivals Saturday at the Cotton Bowl. The Longhorns' defense kept the Sooners out of the end zone and allowed just 3.4 yards per play. Is Texas-OU college football’s greatest rivalry? Texas forced two fumbles on consecutive drives in the second quarter to give the team a spark it desperately needed. The Longhorns scored 21 points in the frame, including a touchdown on a 43-yard run by Quintrevion Wisner immediately following one of the fumble recoveries. Quinn Ewers returned at quarterback for the Longhorns after missing the past two games with an oblique injury, and he was a little shaky early with an interception but settled in and played well. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 199 yards with a touchdown, but also of the passes through the air were short with his receivers turning in 178 yards after the catch. Wisner made a case to be the featured back for the rest of the season with 118 yards on 13 carries. Noah Gross and Roger Wallace break down the big win by the Longhorns in the video player above.
