• Lake Erie trailed at Kentucky Wesleyan by 17 points to start the fourth quarter, but a 23-point quarter keyed a 29-23 come-from-behind win Oct. 12. Kris Riley-Richardons’ 3-yard touchdown run with 1 minute, 50 seconds remaining in regulation was the game-winner as the Storm improved 2-4 on the season. Quarterback Alec Lewis (22 of 40, 287 yards, two TD passes) had a big game and helped fuel the comeback. He threw a 19-yard TD to Keyshawn Johnson (4-75) to pull LEC to within 23-14 early in the fourth, then a 29-yard TD pass to Tae’Shuan Johnson (5-64) to make it 23-21 with 10 minutes remaining. Early on, it was all Kentucky Wesleyan as it led, 16-0, in the second quarter. Jaffer Murphy was the Storm’s offense in the first half with two field goals, including one from 58 yards. Kentucky Wesleyan made it 23-6 early in the third quarter on Brandon Mackey’s 69-yard TD run. LEC next hosts Hillsdale on Oct. 19. Case’s defense allowed just 97 yards of offense, and just 2.1 yards per play. QB Alex Fromberg had an efficient game as he was 22 of 28 for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those TDs went to wide receiver NDCL’s Noah Coyne, who was the Spartans’ leading receiver with six catches and 61 yards. Coyne’s TDs covered 8 and 9 yards. Fromberg’s first TD pass of the game was a 40-yard to backup QB Aaron Filips, who later in the game threw a 59-yard TD pass. Case next hosts Thiel on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
