The Griffins dominated the game early on, building a 28-3 lead late in the second quarter. Byrd threw a pair of touchdowns to both Paris Brooken and Ja'yvion Sampson. However, McQuaid entered the game undefeated thanks to their ability to come back in games. Each of their victories came after trailing by a touchdown or more, and three of their wins came in the final minute of regulation or overtime. McQuaid started their comeback before halftime, with two quick scores to make it 28-17 at the half.
