RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond announced recently that three new bike lanes will be coming to the downtown area in an effort to improve safety and accessibility. According to a release, the Department of Public Works will begin construction in late October for three new bike lanes along the following streets: 2nd Street from Spring Street to Byrd Street Byrd Street from 2nd to 3rd Street 3rd Street from Byrd Street to Franklin Street This project aims to expand multimodal transportation solutions in the city and provide connections to the bike network. The City said that there may be minor disruptions during construction, and they urge people to be patient, slow down and give construction workers extra space when approaching work zones. Construction is expected to be completed by February 2025, weather permitting.
