The Fayette County Public Schools system is hosting its third annual College and Career Fair Tuesday at the Central Bank Center in downtown Lexington. Alexandra McConnell is the district’s work-based learning coordinator. She said the first session will be for the district’s approximately 3,000 high school seniors, who’ll be taken by bus in the morning. “They will have an opportunity to walk around and speak with representatives from about 130 colleges and businesses. And then we are opening up the College and Career Fair for any high school student.” McConnell said the second session will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is open to non-Fayette County high schoolers, too, though they’ll have to arrange their own transportation. “It’s a way for them to explore their future. There’s a lot of times you don’t know what you don’t know. And so by bringing everybody in together, it’s a chance to see what is out there, what is available to our students.” McConnell said there’ll be free parking for the 5:30 session in the High Street lot via Gate 2. ** WEKU is working hard to be a leading source for public service, and fact-based journalism.
