The coolest stretch of weather we’ve seen in over five months has arrived – and it gets downright chilly this upcoming week. Warmer temperatures will make a valiant last stand on Sunday, however, as highs rise near 80º across the Piedmont and Foothills. A stray shower is possible Sunday night as a sharp cold front approaches from the west, but most communities remain dry through the next seven days. While the incoming front won’t bring much – if any – rain, it will usher in the coldest air we’ve seen in over six months. Don’t expect the cooler air to crash in all at once; highs will top out in near-average territory in the 50s, 60s, and 70s on Monday. Wednesday morning will be a different story. Lows around the Charlotte Metro will likely dip into the 30s for the first time since April 7th – 188 days ago – to kick off our Hump Day. Highs will struggle to clear the 40s and 50s across the board Wednesday afternoon. Highs will slowly recover over the following five days, but the Queen City may fail to crack 70º again until after next weekend. Tonight: Clear and chilly. Low: 49°. Wind: SW 5-10. Sunday: Warm sunshine. High: 80°. Wind: SW 5-15. Sunday Night: Clear and breezy. Noticeably milder. Low: 62°. Wind: SW 10-20. Gusts: 25+ Monday: Sunny with cool breezes. High: 73°. Wind: NW 5-15. Gusts: 20+
