Seven-year-old Blakely Noriega serves up ample proof that age is no barrier to success scratching that entrepreneurial itch. She recently launched her own line of organic dog treats under the whimsical name Pupperdoodle, a name and an idea that just “came to her.”The Noriega family moved to Park City from San Francisco in 2022. The family of four and their black Labrador, Frank, who inspired Pupperdoodle, were seeking adventure and an outdoor lifestyle.“We were ready to get out of the San Francisco bubble and explore, and we landed here,” said Kylie, Blakely’s mom. “Blakely, who is home-schooled, enjoyed making dog treats for Frank and figured other dogs might like them as well. The dog treats, called Handy Dandy Dog Bones, are shaped into bones and contain peanut butter, olive oil, flour and cream cheese. That equates to “yum” for about every dog, as it turned out.“I like seeing how the dogs react. They are sniffing a lot and steal them sometimes,” Blakely explained. “I sell them at Willow Creek Dog Park for $8 a bag for the small bones and $2 each for the bigger bones with icing. I love seeing new styles of dogs and their different personalities.”She also is dedicated to giving back, she said, and donates a significant portion of the proceeds from Pupperdoodle to local animal rescues. “I give most of the money to places that rescue animals, and I save a little for myself,” Blakely said. Her mother added that she sets aside some of the money for ingredients and paying her little sister Jane, who is 5, who helps her. That’s just good business practice. “I have been impressed by her dedication to it,” said Kylie. “Whenever we have free time, she says, ‘Let’s make more treats and get to the park.’ She has learned a lot about running a business and expenses.”Blakely plans to sell her dog treats on Saturdays and Sundays at Willow Creek Dog Park throughout the winter.Blake Noriega donates most of her proceeds from Pupperdoodle to local animal rescues.
