Football Friday Night: Central rolls past Woodlawn behind a big second half
Oct 12, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPOUD) — The Central Wildcats were in a defensive battle with Woodlawn in the first half with a slight lead at the break, 7-6.
That quickly changed in the third quarter, as Jake Jarreua picked off Woodlawn's quarterback, taking it to the house for a pick-six, extending the Wildcats' lead to 14-6. That gave the Wildcats the momentum, but it was short-lived after Central fumbled on a punt return later in the third quarter, giving the ball back to Woodlawn.
The Panthers failed to cash in on the turnover, and with three minutes left in the third quarter, Central quarterback Jackson Firmin scored using his legs from the 2-yard line.
The Wildcats failed to find the endzone in the fourth quarter, only kicking a field goal. Central's defense was the real hero of the game, holding Woodlawn scoreless in the second half. The Wildcats beat Woodlawn 24-6 to remain undefeated.
