Clarke Evans/NBAE via Getty Images Twelve restaurants spotlight San Antonio cuisine at Spurs home games Per a Spurs press release: Spurs Sports and Entertainment (SS&E), in partnership with Aramark and presented by Coca-Cola, announced the lineup for the fourth season of the Spurs Culinary Residency Program at Frost Bank Center. This year, the program has expanded from eight to 12 diverse San Antonio restaurants that will have the opportunity to showcase their signature dishes at the arena, offering fans a unique and local culinary experience. Participating restaurants share their unique dishes during select Spurs home games. Each restaurant will have the opportunity to showcase culinary creations at designated concession stands throughout the season, including the balcony level concourse next to the H-E-B Fan Zone at section 217 as well as the club level at section 20 in the North Frost Club. Kevin Barker, Associate Director Culinary Experience at SS&E, stated, “The Spurs Culinary Residency Program is more than just a showcase of delicious food; it’s a celebration of the stories and passion behind each local business. By expanding the program and involving fans in the selection process, we want to highlight the unique narratives and culinary traditions that make San Antonio’s food scene so special.” The full list of participating restaurants includes The Hayden, Benjie’s Munch, Sweet Cheeks Bake Shop, Crepelandia210, Tacos Al Carbon Cabron, K-Pop Dogs, The Purple Pig BBQ, DonutNV, Hotaru Sushi, Bussin’ Q, Cake Llama, and Maui’s on Main. Eleven of the twelve restaurants were selected by SS&E, with the Purple Pig BBQ chosen by fan vote. The Spurs Culinary Residency Program, now in its fourth season, has built relationships with previously featured local restaurants. Several previous participants have been offered full-time locations within the arena based on their positive feedback. It is my personal goal to sample the wares from each of this year’s participants and report back to you all in future open threads. Bon appetit. Welcome to the Thread.
