The Oct 3 commentary by David Young lacks context, history or common sense that requires ignoring the known problems that motorized use creates on our cherished trail systems in town. He ignores the fact that they were never built to be compatible with motorized use to begin with.  He explains it away by pointing out that his motorized vehicle has two wheels, similar also to a gas-powered Enduro motorcycle. I have never seen this guy on any of my rides in town and probably never will unless he’s riding a motorbike accompanied by his hired trainer and personal guide. He had to completely ignore the known impacts of motorized use in order to take such a short-term, narrow-minded, absolute position publicly, using demeaning terms aimed at the protective community at large.  He suggests the majority of grateful non-motorized trail users that are increasing year after year are clueless “bullies.” We, sir, the community, with over 40 years of hard labor and dedicated volunteerism,  blood, sweat and tears created the Park City proper network, and you shockingly blame the builders of it because you are unable to access it without a motor?  What we have today is an unmatched, perfectly linked together trails system designed for a myriad of grateful, not motorized, users. It is a cherished foundational asset underpinning our quality of life, yet Mr. Young advocates potentially wrecking it.   You, sir, can’t appreciate it without a motor and we are the bullies? Unbelievable. Clueless, short-term thinking like this is dangerous at best. Our narrow and heavily used trail network is simply not compatible with “motorbikes for everyone,” and we continue to back this fact up year after year. And so there you have it Parkites, the majority of our community are bullies? You can’t make this stuff up.Mr. Young, I would guess, may have suffered from some horrible indignity, possibly berated by a responsible trail user after he was caught breaking the rules, or worse yet, running someone down on his motor bike at Class 1 speed.  We are doomed to destroy what we have if this is the new thinking of newcomers rushing the gates. We must protect our trails from this devil in disguise.Peter MarthPark CityThe post Devil in disguise appeared first on Park Record.
