FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A transformer fire broke out at a vacant building in Fresno on Friday, the Fresno Fire Department said.
Firefighters say they responded to a transformer fire at a vacant building on North Abby Street near Pinedale Avenue in Fresno on Friday afternoon.
As crews arrived, they say they were able to carefully manage the scene until PG&E arrived to safely disconnect power. Once the power was disconnected, crews were able to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage to the building.
The Fresno Fire Department wants to remind residents to keep a safe distance from downed power lines and transformer fires, given that those pose additional hazards including electrocution.
