Class 5A 1. Mountain Vista (7-0) won vs. ThunderRidge, 51-0: What used to be a close rivalry has turned into a one-sided affair. The Golden Eagles, a week after hanging a record 62 points on Valor Christian, raced to a 44-0 lead by the third quarter that triggered a running clock. Once again, QB Austyn Modrzewski & Co. were unstoppable while the MVHS defense was stellar. Next week: at Fruita Monument, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 2. Cherry Creek (6-1) won vs. Arapahoe, 41-7: Junior QB Brady Vodicka shredded Arapahoe to the tune of 303 yards and three TDs on 21-of-30 passing, junior Jayden Fox (15 carries, 110 yards, 2 TDs) topped 100 yards rushing for the fourth time this fall, and the Bruins cruised to their seventh straight Centennial League win dating back to 2022. Next week: at Eaglecrest, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 3. Columbine (7-0) won vs. Arvada West, 35-14: Running back Mark Snyder catapulted the Rebels out of the gate with an 80-yard touchdown run on Columbine’s first offensive play from scrimmage. Snyder added two more TD runs, and fellow tailback James Basinger also had a pair of scoring scampers as the defending champions extended their winning streak to 21 games. The Rebels had three interceptions in the win. Next week: vs. No. 6 Ralston Valley, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 4. Legend (6-1) won vs. Chaparral, 55-0: Outside of a close win over Grandview and a narrow loss to Columbine, the Titans have steamrolled everyone else they’re played, and that trend continued this week against a fellow Parker foe. Next week: at Fountain-Fort Carson, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 5. Valor Christian (6-1) won vs. No. 9 Castle View, 34-6: After getting thrashed by Mountain Vista last week, the Eagles responded by dominating the Sabercats. A pair of Mason Walters field goals, including one from 51 yards, plus Cash Spence’s rushing TD put Valor Christian up 12-0 after one quarter. Castle View could never gain any traction as another Spence TD put the blowout in motion. Next week: at ThunderRidge, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 6. Ralston Valley (6-1) won vs. Denver South, 47-7: Junior quarterback Zeke Andrews was almost perfect on Thursday night, completing 16 of 17 passes for 201 yards and five TDs in a rout of the Ravens. Five different Ralston Valley pass catchers scored TDs, led by sophomore Levi Rillos’ two scoring grabs, and the Mustangs defense held an opponent to single-digit scoring for the fourth time this season. Next week: at No. 3 Columbine, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 7. Pine Creek (4-3) won at Douglas County, 48-3: The Eagles’ three losses have come to top teams in No. 5 Valor Christian, No. 2 Cherry Creek and No. 4 Legend. Besides that, they’ve looked like a team that can make a deep playoff run, and the Huskies had no chance on Friday. Next week: vs. Chaparral, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 8. Fairview (7-0) won vs. Fort Collins, 68-49: A Fairview defense coming off four straight shutouts had no answers early on for the Lambkins on Thursday night, but the Knights’ explosive attack made sure it didn’t matter. Sophomore QB Ki Ellison threw five touchdown passes, four going to three-star junior Toray Davis, and senior Jordan Rechel scored four TDs (3 rushing, 1 receiving) in a wild shootout that featured three ties before Fairview pulled away late in the third quarter. Next week: at Brighton, 7 p.m. Oct. 18 9. Castle View (5-2) lost at No. 4 Valor Christian, 34-6: After the Sabercats started the season 4-0, they’ve been blown out two of the last three weeks by Legend and now Valor Christian. In both those games, the Castle View offense couldn’t get out of first gear. That will need to change if CV wants to make a push come November. Next week: vs. Rock Canyon, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18. 10. Chatfield (5-2) lost vs. Denver East, 29-26: Cash Wiliams got the Chargers going with his TD pass to Jordan Zeller, then the Chatfield defense notched a safety and Caleb Espinosa added a TD run that made it 16-7 at halftime. The Angels’ Elijah West-Duah ran back a kickoff 99 yards for a TD on the opening play of the second half to make it a two-point game. West-Duah added a TD run to give Denver East its first lead early in the fourth. Then, Sean Campbell’s 39-yard TD run extended the visitors’ lead and iced a ruined homecoming for the Chargers. Next week: at Denver South, 4 p.m. Oct. 18. Class 4A 1. Pueblo West (7-0) won vs. No. 4 Mesa Ridge, 31-28: The Cyclones held a narrow 10-7 lead at halftime. In a back-and-forth affair, Pueblo West outlasted a furious Grizzlies comeback to remain unbeaten, including a defensive stand in the waning seconds as the game hung in the balance. Another signature win for Pueblo West. Next week: at Widefield, 7 p.m. Oct. 17. 2. Dakota Ridge (6-1) won vs. No. 10 Heritage, 42-25: All-everything junior Landon Kalsbeck did his best Travis Hunter impersonation Thursday night, racking up nine tackles (one for loss) and one forced fumble on defense, running for 91 yards on 14 carries, and tossing a 45-yard TD pass in Dakota Ridge’s sixth straight win. Junior QB Kellen Behrendsen completed 10 of 11 passes for 226 yards and two TDs, senior Sam Callas added 95 yards and three TDs on 13 carries, and Nathan Rodriguez caught three passes for 117 yards and two scores to help Dakota Ridge notch its highest point total of the season. Next week: at Highlands Ranch, 7 p.m. Oct. 17. 3. Montrose (7-0) won vs. Doherty, 56-27: The Red Hawks found the gas pedal early and did not let up, scoring 14 points in every quarter as the Spartans defense struggled. Aidan Grijalva had four rushing TDs for Montrose’s first four scores, and by the time Elijah Womack tacked on another rushing TD midway through the third, it was clear the Red Hawks could run the ball at will. Next week: at No. 4 Mesa Ridge, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 4. Mesa Ridge (5-2) lost at No. 1 Pueblo West, 31-28: The Cyclones held a 10-point lead with five minutes to go, but Mesa Ridge didn’t fold, scoring a TD and then getting an onside kick. But Pueblo West stopped Mesa Ridge deep in the red zone at the end of the game. Next week: vs. No. 3 Montrose, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 5. Broomfield (6-1) won at Adams City, 61-0: Since losing at home to Erie in Week 5, the Eagles have outscored their last two opponents 120-0. Darien Jackson’s scoring hookup with Milhail Benner kicked off a 41-point first half that triggered a running clock by the break in the team’s third shutout of the season. Next week: vs. Grand Junction Central, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 6. Palmer Ridge (6-1) won at No. 9 Durango, 24-21: After going down 7-0 early, the Bears ripped off 17 unanswered points. Then, Carson Campbell’s TD pass in the waning minutes was the difference in a close game. That made for a fun bus ride home for the Bears. Next week: vs. No. 8 Vista Ridge, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 7. Riverdale Ridge (7-0) won vs. Longmont, 56-0: The Ravens continued their historic start with a shellacking of the outmatched Trojans. It was 33-0 by halftime as the Ravens offense had its way and the defense came up with several key stops, a fumble recovery and a pick-six. The one-sided trend continued over the final two quarters. Next week: vs. Adams City, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 8. Vista Ridge (5-2) won vs. Rampart, 21-14: The game was tied 7-7 midway through the first quarter, but the Wolves defense rose up when it needed to in the second half. Next week: at No. 6 Palmer Ridge, 7 p.m. Oct. 18. 9. Durango (4-3) lost vs. No. 6 Palmer Ridge, 24-21: Sebastian Tripp’s TD catch put the Demons ahead early, and after the Bears went on a run, Durango rallied to pull within three points late in the game. But it was too little, too late. Next week: at Air Academy, 6 p.m. Oct. 18. 10. Heritage (3-4) lost at No. 2 Dakota Ridge, 42-25: Heritage’s school of hard knocks continued, as the Eagles lost to a ranked 4A/5A opponent for the third time this season. The Eagles are now behind the eight ball in league play. Next week: at Bear Creek, 6 p.m. Oct. 17. Class 3A 1. Windsor (5-1) won at Niwot, 56-0. Next week: at Northridge. 2.
