WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita-based Legend Senior Living operates 15 properties in Florida. Several of its communities were in the direct path of Milton. The company established a 24/7 Hurricane Command Center as soon as the storms started approaching Florida. The center has been updating families about their loved ones living in the properties and directing resources, ensuring there is support for the residents and the staff. "When phone lines and when utilities start to go down, we become the communication hub. And when families call in, they want to know, 'Hey, how's mom doing?' We are that center point of communication. And our teams are informed and they're equipped to handle those calls," said Matt Buchanan, President of Legend Senior Living. Kansas Star Casino evacuated due to bomb threat Buchanan also said they are working to help the staff by providing food and other immediate needs, so that the employees are okay to take care of the residents. Buchanan said they have become a "lifeline" right now for families, and that the command center will continue to operate until all communications and power is restored throughout Florida.
