ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - For many, this weekend will be used to catch up on sleep from a long Thursday night of northern lights watching. For those asking, no...there is no expectation tonight will offer an equally dazzling display. The storm has died down significantly and any lingering aurora will likely be muted and limited to photographers tonight. While last night's G4 geomagnetic storm will not be repeated tonight, G1 conditions could linger. This would allow for at least some northern lights viewing across northern tier states. For the rest of the U.S., last night was the show. pic.twitter.com/bv89LqQxV0— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 11, 2024 A moisture-starved cold front will push south of the region overnight. Shy of a quick passing downpour, this front is otherwise a dud from a rain perspective. It does have cooler Canadian air behind it, which means expect Saturday to regress to highs sub-60° compared to Friday's warmth. The sun should shine, so overall is a beautiful Fall day. Showers will begin to work into the area Saturday night and till tee us up for a wet Sunday at times. Waves of showers will keep Sunday gloomy (and cool with highs in the 50s). Showers will continue into early next week as we work through an unsettled pattern with very cool air. Highs Monday-Wednesday will have a difficult time getting to 50° and lows will drop into the 30s. 8-Day Forecast
