TOPEKA (KSNT) - Parks across Shawnee County are getting ready for the winter season. According to Sean Zears with Shawnee County Parks + Recreation (SCP+R), park staff will soon be winterizing all of the restrooms and drinking fountains. Winterization means all of the non-heated restrooms will be closed and the drinking fountains will be turned off to avoid pipes freezing this winter. A list of restrooms that will be open are below: Lake Shawnee Marina Trailhead at Ted Ensley Gardens Lake Shawnee Junior Pond Lake Shawnee Junior Pond Tennis Courts Tinman Circle Gage Park Train Depot Westlake Carousel Horseshoe Courts Shawnee North Trailhead shelter According to Zears, winterization parks across Shawnee County will take place Tuesday, Oct. 15.
