HATFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A project is underway in Hatfield to improve the town's water and sewer system. Massachusetts Clean Water Trust approves over $60M in loans and grants The water and sewer improvement project will benefit residents and businesses along Route 5. Executive Office of Economic Development Secretary Yvonne Hao along with town and state officials, took part in a ribbon-cutting dedication for the Route 5 Water and Sewer Infrastructure Improvements Project. Sec. Hao told 22News, "The state has partnered very closely with the town of Hatfield and we've actually awarded them three different grants totaling $3.8 million for this project. This is a really important piece of infrastructure that is going to enable all kinds of economic development expansion for businesses, new jobs." The project will replace and increase the size of the old water line and put in a sewer line along the road. Residents and businesses will be able to connect to the new sewer system. The town has been working on this project since 2016.
