LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Longmeadow police are once against investigating an act of vandalism at Bliss Park after the Mr. Potato Head statue was covered in graffiti. The Mr. Potato Head statue, which is a beloved and iconic feature of the park, was covered in offensive graffiti Friday morning. Police officers were quickly sent to the park and the Department of Public Works was notified to clean up the vandalism. Accessibility improvements coming to Bliss Park in Longmeadow This is not the first time the park has experienced vandalism, there was an incident in June of last year when two juveniles were charged for pouring acid on slides at the playground. To prevent future incidents police say they continue to stay vigilant by conducting daily and nightly patrols through the park. Longmeadow Police Captain Carl Mazzaferro told 22News, "It's a public park, people are there all the time. The goal is to keep it beautiful and pleasant for the residents that are there." As of now, there are no suspects in the Mr. Potato Head vandalism case. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
