BAXLEY, Ga. (WSAV) – Appling County Schools will return to the classroom next week after a two-week closure due to Hurricane Helene. Poor road conditions and power outages have kept doors closed since Sept. 26. In a statement released Friday, the district announced that staff will return on Tuesday followed by students on Wednesday. MORE: Appling Co. still battling effects of Helene, some without power Officials said they understand that some households are still without power and will remain flexible until it is restored. Meanwhile, those with affected bus routes due to road conditions can expect a call from the transportation department.
